I am very sad to report the dead of a former member of IACES LC PORTO.

Ricardo Canha Rodrigues, one of the founders of IACES LC Porto in 1994 died this afternoon with cancer in Porto. He was the Vice President of the first Local Board from 1994 to 1997 and got graduate in 1997 in civil engineering.

He was one of the enthusiasts of the early times of IACES in Porto despite never being in an international activity. During his professional activity he kept the contact with IACES being an Alumni involved on help regular members (students) and contributing with his experience and ideas within LC Porto.

We had already lost one of the two Honorary Members one year ago who had strongly supported IACES Porto as a Staff Member of Civil Engineering Department of Faculty of Engineering of Porto University during the whole life of our LC.

Thank you all in my name and the people who met and worked with both.

Rest in peace.

Hi! Dear Old Friends,
I was watching TV and I have seen a programme which presents Slovenia, especially Ljubljana. The beautiful streets, gorgeous buildings, bazaar, bridges, parks, etc.
I remembered the time we have spent together in Bled in Interces 2007. We have nice memories; even we have been there in a short time.
After Ljubljana, the presenter had visited a few small cities and Bled. We have been there 5 days together, watched one of the most exciting view in the world.
In Netherland 2006(Exchange), in Slovenia 2007 and Turkey 2008(Interces)we have met many friends... Who knows where will be our next station?
Now I am working in Russia, I'll be glad if I can join one of our exchanges again in my holiday...

Hope to see you again!
Best wishes.
Life is beautiful.Have fun!

Hey Harmannus!

Nice to hear from you (I wish it was a nicer ocasion).

Anyway, the problem with the spam emails is very old - and gets worse, that's right. In fact, the @iaces.org addresses do not work anymore at all due to that reason. Only a few I kept installed, because I knew, people are still using/appreciating them.

Anyway, the addresses are circulating since a very long time in the spam network. It's because they were naively published already when there was no such a problem with spam in general.

Right now the server offers the possibility of a spam filter when you have a mailbox. Right now most working addresses (incl. yours) are just redirections to other email addresses.

@everybody: For those who want to use their @iaces.org address in a spam filter equipped (and more comfortable) way, I can offer to set up a mail account for your alias.

This concerns everybody who has a working @iaces.org email address or wants to have one. Requests, comments etc. either in the Guestbook or to steffen[AT]iaces.org ;-)

It's a sad day.
I just disabled my IACES mailadress because it got to much spam (up too 100 mails a day)
I wonder how it is possible that I recieve so much spam on a mailaddress I barely use. Did someone hack our server?
Can't somebody install a working spamfilter on the server so I can start using my IACESmail again?

Since a long time I was not here anymore. But as I can see IACES is still alive. :)

The website looks great!! The only thing I miss is a link to Alumni-Club.

Hi GB/CC,

Not sure who is running the IACES mail server now, but I cannot change my mail settings. All the spam I receive comes from the IACES server, including spam not sent to my address (so why I get those is a mystery). I could block all emails to @iaces.org but then I would also be cut off completely. Do you have any idea what is wrong?

Maurits

Hello Alf,

The previous GB had prepared an IACES flag and that was firstly used during the ACCESS'08 (As I know, few years ago there was also an IACES flag and it was lost)Now, GB has 3 flags and hopefully, they will be used for several activities.

Hope you can also join any events during the year and can see them closely :)

Best greetings!
